Nemaco’s submersible enclosures are factory tested to ensure strong ingress protection—there is “NO WATER” inside any submersible cabinet when installed correctly per factory technical specifications, professional mechanical & plumbing standards and the National Electric Code (NEC).

Nemaco has factory quality control standard procedures on all waterproof enclosures manufactured and tested before shipping to customers. The basic standard requires that every enclosure is tested for a minimum of full 24 hours under simulated environmental conditions and inspected to have no leaks on the gaskets, FPT conduit hubs, pipe fittings or windows if applicable. NEMACO will test waterproof sealed electrical connectors on request.

Quality corrosion-resistant materials are used for the NEMA 6P & IP68 rating. Each application might be different, and our team will work with you to select the right material.

Stainless Steel for Corrosion Resistance

Nemaco offers corrosion-resistant grades of stainless steel for NEMA 6 / 6P (IP67 / IP68) enclosures. Common grades include:

  • 304
  • 304L (low carbon content)
  • 316
  • 316L (low carbon content)

You might ask:

  • Which grade has better corrosion resistance?
  • Which grade is more common and cost-effective?

Type 316 contains more nickel, molybdenum and chromium than type 304, offering superior corrosion resistance (and higher cost). Choose 316 for salt-water or chemical exposures; choose 304 when corrosion risk is lower to save cost.

Aluminum Alloy Solutions

Nemaco designs and manufactures submersible waterproof control cabinets using:

  • 5052 Aluminum
  • 6061 Aluminum

5052-H32 and 6061 are lightweight, thermally conductive and corrosion-resistant—ideal for telecom, lift stations, traffic control systems and water/wastewater treatment. Aluminum enclosures are easier to install and dissipate heat effectively. Ask Nemaco about electro-static powder-coat finishes.

Powder Coat Surface Protection

To maximize longevity against harsh environments, Nemaco’s aluminum and steel enclosures are powder coated with UL-listed epoxy finishes in white, light grey, dark grey or black. Custom colors (hunter green, blue, yellow, orange, etc.) are available on request.
