NEMACO - Performance Class - NEMA 6P Enclosures & Junction Boxes are designed to provide the best submersible waterproof and corrosion protection for industrial electrical power and network applications . NEMA 6P enclosures is similar to the Ingress Protection rating IP68 for waterproof submersion protection. To learn more the distinct NEMA & Ingress Protection Rating differences, other sections in our website for the definitions, materials and applications. Nemaco offers NEMA type 6P enclosures, tall cabinets and junction boxes in (304 / 316L) stainless steel, powder coated aluminum alloys and FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) material that the NEMA 250 standards and the UL standards for corrosion resistances and submersible waterproof protection. Heavy duty submersible enclosures provide protection for electronic equipment all environmental weather (rain, ice, snow) and of course complete prolonged submersion. Also, NEMA 6P Enclosures can be used for submersible application for both indoor and outdoor environments or any heavy water wash-down applications.
NEMACO - NEMA 6P Enclosures are 100% Quality Control Tested and APPROVED BY Underwriters Laboratories(UL)
Definition: Type 6P enclosures constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against access to hazardous parts; to provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt); to provide a degree of protection with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (hose directed water and the entry of water during prolonged submersion at a limited depth); that provides an additional level of protection against corrosion and that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure.
Nemaco manufactures and tests NEMA type 6P adherence NEMA rating requirement standard.
Our engineering team have ability to explain the level of protection and testing requirements of NEMA 6p enclosures, different between protection degree of each NEMA type and determine which one is suitable to your applications to save your time, money and make sure the enclosures will totally protect your eqiupments. Our customers enjoy counsels from our team, also our short lead times and consultative support.
Nemaco offers different size of submersible enclosures, from as small as 4″ x 4″ x 4 ” for nema 6p junction boxes to largest we made 96″ x 48″ x 48″ for the very large waterproof boxes.
Typically, our type 6P enclosures are fabricated from stainless steel that provides corrosion resistance and material strength. It is better to use premium grades of stainless steel (304, 316 and 316L) for submersible enclosures. Premium grades of stainless steel contain more chrome and nickel elements for corrosion resistance. Generally, the more chrome and nickel added to stainless alloys, the greater the corrosion resistance. Since premium grades already resist corrosion and oxidation, powder coating is seldom applied to stainless steel. Call Nemaco, NEMA enclosures manufacturer in the U.S.A., for more information about (304, 316, 316L) stainless steel NEMA / Type 6P enclosures and stainless steel passivation.

Aluminum alloys (including 5052, 6061 and cast material grades) can be used for some Type 6P enclosures. Many aluminum alloys offer good corrosion resistance, but to improve it further these enclosures must receive a protective coating—commonly powder or marine coatings—to inhibit corrosion.

For some applications, fiberglass reinforced plastics (FRP / GRP) can be considered and used for Type 6P since FRP glass and resin materials do not rust or corrode. However, FRP enclosures should be designed with heavier (thick) walls for most uses. Ask us for more information about our waterproof FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) NEMA / Type 6P enclosures.
Other materials (for example, brass, copper, bronze alloys) might be used for Type 6P applications but are uncommon in industrial settings due to cost and availability. Brass, copper, and bronze alloys are typically used for fittings and adapters.
