Carbon steel is an alloy consisting of iron and carbon; other elements are allowed in this material in very small maximum percentages such as manganese, silicon, and copper—others are not considered to affect its properties.
Generally, all types of steel contain carbon but carbon steel has the most carbon content. Carbon steel has a lot of advantages compared to other materials. For example, carbon steel is very strong, can be formed to any specific shapes, is flexible, and is liable to change. However, it does have a disadvantage: it rusts. Therefore, we don’t recommend using carbon steel when the application requires corrosion resistance.
