STANDARDS & QUALITY CONTROL

NEMA 4 rating series are intended to use mainly in an outdoor environment, where the protection from the heavy rain is required. Nemaco’s product line includes a series of NEMA 4 electrical enclosures have been PERFORMANCE TESTED and APPROVED by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Call Nemaco to learn more about both factory performance class non-UL and UL Listed enclosures.

Nemaco has done performance rigorous testing to be approved for the Type 4 enclosure rating. Performance testing has included using heavy hose directed water spray down on enclosures surfaces, doors, door gaskets, turn latches, turn handles and cover plates.

NEMA 4 DEFINITION

Definition: NEMA 4 enclosures provide protection against solid objects such as falling dirt, circulating dust, airborne dust, and windblown dust. Similarly, they give the same level of protection against ingress of water, dripping, light splashing, splashing and hose down (directed) water.

  • Indoor or Outdoor applications
  • Protection from hose directed water, rain, ice formation, foreign substances and windblown dust (airborne circulating dust and settling particles) in the outdoor environment.
  • Protection from falling dirt and dripping water from pipes in the indoor environment.
  • Provides protection for electrical equipment from incidental contact.

COMMON MATERIALS & COATINGS

POWDER COATED CARBON STEEL

Nemaco offers NEMA 4 rating enclosure series made from premium grades of carbon steel with oven baked & durable powder coated finishes. Our standard door handles and door turn knobs are powder coated. But customers can request upgrades to stainless hardware with other interesting features.

ALUMINUM & STAINLESS STEEL – MATERIAL UPGRADES

In order to better serve customers, we offers material upgrades to include powder coated aluminum and to 304 stainless steel for more corrosion resistance. For customers requesting stainless steel with additional corrosion resistance, then customers can request a materials upgrade to 316 stainless steel with passivation. Stainless steel passivation is a process to remove and clean residual oxidation from welding and stainless steel contamination. These upgrades will make enclosures meet type 4X protection level.

Wall Mount

Our NEMA 4 wall mount enclosures are designed with wall tab to be supported concrete wall, wood, concrete and more in case want to lift it up over the floor or put it on the wall outside the building. These designs allow you to easily access your electronic from the front of the enclosure.

NEMA TYPE 4 ENCLOSURES - SUMMARY

Nemaco offers NEMA 4 electrical cabinet and enclosure products with a full range of wall mount, floor mount, free standing cabinet, junction box, pull box and custom configurations. The enclosures can be used for indoor or outdoor environments. Our products are designed to provide protection against heavy hose directed spray wash-down, rain, snow, ice, falling dirt, windblown dust/dirt and dripping from leaking pipes for indoor or outdoor locations. These type 4 rating enclosures are typically powder coated steel and therefore provide fair corrosion with a powder coat finish. For customers needing more corrosion resistant then they should consider using (304 / 316L) stainless steel, upgrade for nema 4x rating instead.
